Rocking Horse Door Stop in Aged Cast Iron

Antique Cast Iron Rocking Horse on Base

This little rocking horse has lots of age! The paint is original. I believe it was originally used as a doorstop  but could be re-purposed in lots of ways within a decorating theme. It sits on an iron base and is stable. Great shelf sitter. It is two sided. Age is estimated to be c1900+-.

Steamer Immigrant Trunk in Tin and Oak

This steamer trunk has a solid construction. The wood is wrapped on the outside in tine and then reinforced with Oak strips and decorative metal. It has a domed "camel" top.

At one time there were leather handles on either side. Now missing.
Decorative Metal on Steamer Trunk
The latches on either side are in good shape as are the hinges.
Steamer Trunk Original Lock
The original lock is all there and probably would work if a key could be located!

Top View of Steamer Trunk
The trunk has been washed in wood soap to remove "musty" smell common to these old trunks. It has been aired in fresh air and sunshine.

Inside Steamer Trunk
The lid is supported with a hinge on the right side. Paper lines the trunk and may be original to the trunk. The lid has a picture pasted in which I do not believe to be original. I have left everything as I found it. The new owner can make decisions about what needs to be refinished or left alone.
Steamer Trunk Front View Lid Raised
There may have been a divider between the lid and the lower section to store items in the two small upper divided sections of the lid.

Available at Woolbright's River City Antique Mall in Princeton, Wisconsin, after October 24, 2015. Booth PPR. Price: $225. Shipping can be arranged at the buyer's cost.

Primitive Immigrant Trunk

This trunk has been around for a long time! It still has the remnants of a US customs tag and an old address. It is missing the front escutcheon but the lock operates. At some point, someone felt the need to "antique" the finish.
 Notice the spelling of "Amerika!"

It has cast iron reinforcement straps.
Remnants of Customs Tag

The trunk has a slightly rounded camel top and forged iron handles on either end that are original.

Upper Lid Lock
I found a key that operates the lock. It is not original but it does work. The top loop of the key is broken in half but it is still easy enough to grasp to turn the lock.
Immigrant Trunk Showing Metal Reinforcement and Iron Handle

In real life, the trunk has this mustard brown color as shown below. The pictures above were taken on a cloudy day but I used them because I thought they should some of the detail better.

The wood appears to be made of some type of pine. Some of the reinforcements are wood and the main reinforcements are metal It measures 39.25 inches long by 23.5 inches at the highest point. It is 21.5 inches wide from front to back.

James Stensen Chicago Stoneware Bottle

Featuring another bottle from the Midwest! This is a James Stensen bottle with a clear and legible impressed stamp, c1880.
James Stensen Chicago Stoneware Bottle Mid/Late 1800's

Notice the soft orange peel affect in the glaze at the shoulder.
Back  of James Stensen Chicago Stoneware Bottle

It stands 7 5/8 inches tall and is in excellent condition. One small flaw on the lip appears to be under the glaze and so occurred during the hand building process.

Pressed Base on James Stensen Chicago Stoneware Bottle

The bottle has a pressed base. These were used on molded bottles between 1847-1895.

Difficult to find a similar bottle in better condition!

Stoneware Bottle from Grand Rapids, Michigan

JB Folger Stoneware Bottle Late Mid to Late 1800's
JB Folger bottles come from Grand Rapids, Michigan. This one is in excellent condition! John Baldwin Folger founded the JB Baldwin and Sons Bottling Company in the mid 1800's. Most of the bottles that I collect come from the mid west. I have one other JB Folger bottle besides this one.
JB Folger Stoneware Bottle with Legible Stamp and Cobalt Collar

Notice the rim is in excellent condition. There is some staining on the bottle to the right of the stamp in the mid section of the bottle. Such coloration is common.
