Northwood "Beads" C1900

Northwood Bowl in the Beads Pattern c1900
Northwood's Bead Pattern with Back Lighting to Show Colors
Northwood's "Beads" pattern is only found on bowls. This bowl shows the relationship between carnival glass and light. Very strong color display!

Various back lights and natural lights enhance the iridescent treatment of carnival glass and the distinctive pattern of each piece. The Beads pattern is on the exterior of the bowl and shows through in this back lit photo.

The Northwood mark, an N encircled, is shown in the center along with a strawmark obtained in the production of the glass. Such strawmarks are typical in glass of this era. To me, they add to the unique character of each hand shaped piece.

This bowl has the desirable green base glass. It has a small nick or "flea bite" on the bottom rim. It is so small it must be searched for. The Beads pattern is on the exterior of the bowl while the interior has a strong display of color.

Northwood's bowl has a strong array of colors. It displays beautifully, particularly if it has a relationship with a light source. In excellent condition for being 115 years old.
